Southern Light Vineyards' sole focus is on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Our first releases come from Ghostgum - a 30-year-old vineyard planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on a gentle, east-facing slope in Main Ridge on the Mornington Peninsula.
Our wines are crafted from our own vineyards, from grape to bottle, using the decades of experience of our small team. We have three vineyards, each with their own unique characteristics. The wines from these vineyards together aim to showcase the diversity of styles and tapestry of flavours of the best Australian Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Nestled in Healesville in the Yarra Valley, our winery is purposefully designed for small batch winemaking, and we have a no compromise approach from budburst to the glass.
Each batch is given the space and attention it deserves. We ferment each block individually, each of which is matured separately in specially designated cool and warm rooms to precisely manage the fermentation process. Our wines are bottled on site at our winery which allows us to manage the final stage, closing the loop on our berry-to-bottle philosophy.
At the helm of Southern Light Vineyards is winemaker and viticulturist Anthony Fikkers, with the support of Dan Sergeant our head viticulturist managing our vineyards. Rupert Steenberg and Hayley O’Heare together manage all brand direction, sales, and marketing.
Southern Light Vineyards is the culmination of a lifelong pursuit for Joval Wines, who have been involved in every aspect of fine wine for over 50 years, spanning three generations.
